This year Graz is Cultural Capital of Europe. But what follows, what are the perspectives for the future? Antal Lakner has a concept in mind: Graz should apply for the position to carry out the Olympic Games of 2012!
Frankly speaking it is not easy to convince the Olympic committee, and therefore, everybody has to make an effort that the application is taken seriously.
With his fictitious Olympia application, Antal Lakner tries to establish a certain image in the heads of the population: Graz has many facets. It is not only cultural capital; it could be the sport’s capital or any other! There is a perspective after 2003.
The idea to establish Graz as the next Olympia city is fascinating and alarming at the same time: because a city not only identifies itself via marketable events!
So what remains is the competition of the cities, fighting to become an attraction for tourists who bring money, and for economic centers, which should have an attractive environment.
